HOW TO APPLY FOR NEU

The applicant must submit a certified copy of his or her Higher Secondary School Certificate, Intermediate Certificate, or equivalent, demonstrating that he or she has successfully completed secondary school, as well as arrange for the release of other relevant certified documents, such as transcripts or detailed mark sheets, to NEU.

Accepted Higher School Certificates for undergraduate programs

High School Diploma, Higher Secondary School Certificate, General Certificates of Secondary Education (GCSE), Higher Secondary Certificate, Upper Secondary /Secondary School/ High School/ Senior High School Leaving Certificate, Testimonial, Secondary Education Certificate, Senior School Certificate, Matriculation Examination Certificate, SAT , WAEC , WASSCE , NECO , JAMB, BACCALAUREATE.

Documents Required for Undergraduate Application

  • Photocopies of Higher Secondary School Certificate and transcript (mark sheets).
  • One passport-sized photograph
  • Photocopy of the passport (relevant page) or birth certificate
  • A copy of proof of English Proficiency if any

Note: English translations of these documents are necessary if they are in any language other than English.

Applications to NEU’s graduate programs can be submitted at any time during the year, up to one month before the start of each semester. For the Spring and Fall semesters, applicants should submit their applications by the end of December or August, depending. Application deadlines are posted on the Institute’s and the Registrar’s Office’s websites. Applicants must submit their applications online.

You will be able to pursue graduate studies at Near East University (NEU) in the field in which you earned your bachelor’s degree or in a related field after completing the required deficiency program, which will last no more than one year.

Fall and Spring semester applications are accepted twice a year. Application deadlines are posted on the Institute’s website.

Admission Requirements for International Students at Near East University are as follows:

  • Any of the following certificates or diplomas are accepted
  • General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Exam results
  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Exam results
  • International Baccalaureate Exam results
  • American College Testing (ACT) Exam results
  • Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Exam results
  • Tawjihi Exam results ( for Jordanian and Palestinian students)
  • Baccalaureate Exam results ( for Lebanese, Iraqi and Syrian students)
  • Diploma Debirestan” Exam results (for Iranian students)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate Exam results ( for Pakistani, Indian and Bangladesh students)
  • WAEC/NECO Exam results (for Nigerian students)
  • GAOKAO Exam results (for Chinese students)
  • High School Diploma (for all other Overseas students)

Requirements for Applications to Postgraduate Master’s programs of Near East University are as follows:

  1. Graduating from a BSc or BA level undergraduate program (Min. CGPA 2.50)
  2. English Proficiency: TOEFL and other Qualifications may be considered.
  3. Turkish Proficiency (Required only for foreign students applying to Departments whereby the language of instruction is Turkish. Students applying to the Faculty of Medicine or Dentistry are required to have knowledge of the Turkish Language before beginning clinical training).

Requirements for Applications to Postgraduate PhD programs of Near East University are as follows:

  1. Graduating from a MSc, MA or MBA level Master’s program (Min. CGPA 3.00)
  2. English Proficiency: TOEFL and other Qualifications may be considered.
  3. Turkish Proficiency (Required only for foreign students applying to Departments whereby the language of instruction is Turkish. Students applying to the Faculty of Medicine or Dentistry are required to have knowledge of the Turkish Language before beginning clinical training).

Application forms can be obtained from this web page or the Registrar’s Office. Students whose applications evaluated are called for interviews or exams on previously announced dates and following that, the final decision about the applications are announced. Application dates are different for each term and these dates are announced via our website.

Turkish Proficiency is available at the Turkish Language School of Near East University offering foreign students the opportunity to learn Turkish relevant to the department/program they have been enrolled in.

Postgraduate programs of the Near East University are carried out by 5 graduate schools

  • Graduate School of Applied Sciences
  • Graduate School of Social Sciences
  • Graduate School of Health Sciences
  • Graduate School of Education Sciences
  • Graduate School of Criminal Science

A list of documents needed for application is given below:

  1. An official transcript of all university-level (Bachelor / Master) courses taken. A comparative mark/grade table if CGPA on the transcript is not out of 4.00.
  2. Attested photocopies of diplomas received from a university or equivalent institutions (i.e. 4 years study bachelor degree). English translations of these documents are necessary if they are in any language other than English.
  3. Documentation of scores received for English and academic proficiency exams/tests. This is not valid for the programs in which the medium of instruction is Turkish. Native speakers should indicate the place of birth and citizenship. All others should provide documents of any one of the below given English Proficiency Tests.
  4. Three letters of reference (not required for NEU graduates).
  5. Documents
    1. Give details of any grant/scholarships that you have already been awarded (valid for your studentship at NEU) (add documents).
    2. Give details of any application(s) for a grant/scholarship that you have made (add documents).
    3. Statement of Purpose / Intention (Please submit on a separate sheet: Your purpose in applying to the program chosen, explaining your motivation as well as the areas of specialization which would be of interest to you within the discipline).
    4. A photocopy of your passport or I.D. card.
    5. A passport-sized (approx. 6 cm x 5 cm) photographs.
    6. Program specific documents: Architecture (Ph.D. & Master): Portfolio.
    7. Proposal (for PhD program applications)
