Learning

through discovery.

Postgraduate education (also known as graduate education in North America) entails learning and studying for academic or professional degrees, academic or professional certificates, academic or professional diplomas, or other qualifications for which a first or bachelor’s degree is usually required, and it is usually considered to be part of higher education. This level is commonly referred to as graduate school in North America (and often colloquially as grad school).

why EMU

Scholarship Opportunities for International Students

A high number of our overseas students receive scholarships worth 50% or 25% of their tuition. Students declare their want to be considered throughout the online application process for academic programs, and decisions are made based on the candidate’s academic performance and the academic program applied for. If the student receives a partial tuition waiver, the EMU acceptance decision will state so.

At the undergraduate and PhD levels, there are some full scholarships available. This is a tremendously competitive market. PhD scholarship applications are submitted online as part of the graduate application process. Undergraduate full scholarship applications are reviewed by a scholarship committee 30 days prior to the start of the semester for type 7 scholarships and 60 days prior to the start of the semester for type 3 scholarships. To be considered, the student must be accepted into the program to which they have applied.

High Quality and
Rich Campus Life

EMU’s vibrant and high-quality campus life is supplemented by various social and cultural activities organized by the International Office’s more than 50 student clubs and international student organizations.

EMU students have access to a range of sporting facilities. A new stadium with a seating capacity of 5,000 people, a tartan athletics track, a cardio center, spinning and TRX halls, a 66,500 m2 open sports field, and a closed sports complex with a seating capacity of 3,500 people are just a few of the amenities available to students.

The EMU Health Center is fully equipped, with 13 specialty doctors and a private ambulance. There are around 30 research centers on campus, some of which provide direct services to students, in addition to the Health Center. The Center for Psychological Counseling, Guidance, and Research (PDRAM) and the Center for Graduate Communications and Career Research provide direct services to students.

Postgraduate programs of EMU

The Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at EMU coordinates and administers a wide range of graduate programs leading to Master’s and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Departments within the university’s faculties and colleges host and manage these programs. The Institute is in charge of regulating, processing, and managing graduate admissions, assistantships, thesis proposals and defenses, supervisions, and examinations, all of which are subject to the University’s bylaws and Senate regulations. By applying universally acknowledged academic ideas and criteria, the Institute helps to preserve quality in graduate education.

Graduate programs at EMU are designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation as well as the required skills to succeed in academia, industry, or the service sector. EMU’s graduate programs are based on academic independence and ethical behavior. Our goal is to produce graduates who can keep up with new discoveries and trends in their fields of study, true academics with well-developed research and communication skills who can contribute to society in a variety of ways. Faculty members have a diverse range of Faculty Research Interests, allowing them to do interdisciplinary study in addition to traditional research topics. More than 2,000 EMU master’s and Ph.D. graduates have found work in academia, government, and the commercial sector.

Y.O.K (Higher Education Council of Turkey) has accredited EMU’s graduate programs, which are recognized by foreign academic bodies. EMU belongs to a number of international academic organizations, including the European University Association, the International Association of Universities, and the Federation of Islamic Universities.

New students from Turkey and other international students in PhD programs can apply for scholarships that cover 100% or 50% of their tuition fees.

Evaluation Criteria

The following are the minimum requirements:

To have completed an undergraduate degree program with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (out of 4.00) or equivalent.
To have an undergraduate degree program or similar with a CGPA of 2.75 – 2.99 out of 4.00 and a corresponding ALES score of 65 or above (for Turkish citizens) or a Graduate (Master’s) Program graduation with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 out of 4.00 or comparable.

The applicants will be ranked according to the departments’ assessment criteria (not only CGPA). The department may award a scholarship of 100% to one candidate or two 50% scholarships to two applicants.

As per the Scholarship Calendar, the shortlisted candidates will be announced. Candidates who have been shortlisted must complete their registration by the deadline date’s working hours. Otherwise, fresh applicants may be added to the second list to take their place.

Students whose names appeared on the second scholarship list and who were unable to complete their registration by the deadline due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. visa, transportation, etc.) may request an extension from the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research before the deadline if their petition is approved.

Scholarships are not awarded to students who drop out of school and then reapply for financial aid. If such behavior is discovered, the student’s scholarship will be revoked.

International master’s program candidates

After the acceptance decision is made to the program, the 50 percent scholarships for overseas students who will enroll in a master’s degree will be announced. The scholarship information will be included in the acceptance letter for the program.

Category ‘E’ Research Assistant Position: According to Article 4(5) of the ‘Research Assistant Appointment and Postgraduate Scholarship Regulations,’ students who are awarded a 100% scholarship are assigned to the ‘Category E Research Assistant’ position. These students are expected to work at academic units or, if necessary, administrative units for 5 hours each week.

If a student is hired from another research assistant category post, he or she can keep the 100 percent scholarship (Category E research assistant position) until he or she resigns, as long as he or she still meets the requirements for the scholarship.

Category E Research assistants are not allocated to students who receive a 50% scholarship. When a student is also working part-time as a research assistant, he or she must choose one of the scholarships.

All programs are offered in English, with the exception of those marked as Turkish:
