Driving in Northern Cyprus

Northern Cyprus driving licenses are official documents that allow their holders to operate various types of motor vehicles on public highways in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

TRNC nationals and citizens of other countries with a residency permission can receive Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus driver’s licenses. TRNC licenses cannot be obtained without either citizenship or a residency permit. At the age of 18, a TRNC vehicle or motorbike license can be obtained after passing a theory and practical exam on public roads.

North Cyprus, like the United Kingdom, drives on the left side of the road. In the TRNC, anyone with a driver’s license is allowed to drive. You can drive in the TRNC for up to three months with your foreign license. Then you must obtain a TRNC driver’s license.
