Achieving
High Standards.
Postgraduate education (also known as graduate education in North America) entails learning and studying for academic or professional degrees, academic or professional certificates, academic or professional diplomas, or other qualifications for which a first or bachelor’s degree is usually required, and it is usually considered to be part of higher education. Master’s degrees are the highest level of education. Master of Arts (from Latin Magister artium; M.A.) and Master of Science (from Latin Magister scienti; M.Sc.) degrees are commonly grouped together, followed by the Master of Philosophy (from Latin Magister philosophi; M.Phil.) degree, and finally the Master of Letters degree (from Latin Magister litterarum; M.Litt.). Doctorates. Academic and professional doctorates are frequently separated from these. A Doctor of Philosophy degree (from Latin Doctor philosophi; Ph.D. or D.Phil.) or a Doctor of Science degree (from Latin Doctor scienti; D.Sc.) are two types of academic doctorates.
